Oxygen Therapy: A breath of fresh air for your complexion

Clients often ask us, “How often do you recommend getting a facial?” The easy answer is every 4 to 6 weeks, which is about how often your skin cells naturally shed and new ones are revealed.

As important as it is to receive regular professional exfoliation, what about during the summer months? Generally, if you spend a lot of your time outdoors during the warmer months and are not extremely vigilant in reapplying a sunscreen every 2 hours, we don’t recommend aggressive exfoliation. So, what type of treatment is good for June, July and August?

Nkd's Lash Mantra

Let’s discuss your Lash-pectations...

At Nkd, we like to discuss “Lash-pectations” with our clients before we apply a new set of lash extensions. Lash extensions are not one size fits all.

We care about our clients and our clients lashes, so after we measure and test the strength of your natural lash, we will advise you on the proper design of your set of lashes. For example, if you have fine lashes that are about 7mm long, we would use a combination of thin and thick lashes that do not go beyond 9mm in length. This ensures better wear and maximum time in between fills.

Extend the Life of Your Lashes!

Pick up some good lash habits!
  1. Touch your eyes! Of course you want to be gentle to your eye area, however; it’s imperative that you clean around your lash line to maintain your lash health. (Yes, even if you don’t use eye makeup!) Dust, cosmetics, lotion, sweat and oil can accumulate around your lash follicles, causing premature lash loss. Using lint-free applicators and either warm water or oil-free eye makeup remover, gently massage the base of your lashes.

Custom Spray Tan Tips from a Professional

Not all spray tans are created equal. There are different methods for sunless tanning.

  1. DIY at home over the counter tan.
  2. Automatic spray tan booth.
  3. Custom spray tan applied by a professional, AKA- “airbrush” spray tanning … this method used to be applied with a tiny airbrush gun (think airbrush makeup) but now the tan is applied with a bigger machine for quicker, easier application. Each method can have very different results.

Let’s focus on #3 – a custom spray tan.

Grilling is good for food. Not skin.

MELANOMA CLAIMS THE LIFE OF ONE PERSON EVERY HOUR.

Do we have your attention? Read on.

When you browse the aisles of a supermarket, you can find a nutrition label on the back of every packaged item; specifically the calorie content per serving. The Sensational Strawberry

Strawberries can do wonders for your skin whether applied topically or as part of your diet.

Vitamin C: One cup or about 8 strawberries contains more than 100% of the recommended daily dose of Vitamin C; a powerful antioxidant that helps protect your body and skin from free radical damage, which  can add to the aging process. This essential vitamin promotes healthy teeth and gums, aids in wound healing, and maintains tissue within the body, according to the National Institutes of Health’s MedlinePlus Medical Encyclopedia. Repetitive, topical use of Vitamin C can also be an effective treatment to firm skin and fade brown spots.
